Swedish Taco Friday

Experience a fusion of Swedish and Mexican flavors with Swedish Taco, a unique twist on the classic Tex-Mex favorite. Featuring hearty fillings wrapped in soft flatbreads or tortillas, and topped with a medley of fresh and flavorful ingredients, Swedish Taco offers a deliciously unexpected culinary adventure that's sure to tantalize your taste buds.

Ingredients

For the meat filling:

  • 500g ground beef or minced meat
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon Swedish taco seasoning mix (or your favorite taco seasoning)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For assembly:

  • Soft flatbreads or tortillas
  • Shredded lettuce
  • Diced tomatoes
  • Grated cheese (such as cheddar or Monterey Jack)
  • Sliced jalapeños (optional)
  • Sour cream
  • Guacamole or sliced avocado
  • Salsa
  • Fresh cilantro, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. 1. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, and sauté until softened and fragrant.
  2. 2. Add the ground beef or minced meat to the skillet, breaking it up with a spoon, and cook until browned and cooked through.
  3. 3. Stir in the Swedish taco seasoning mix (or your favorite taco seasoning), and season with salt and pepper to taste. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  4. 4. Remove the skillet from heat and set aside.
  5. 5. Warm the soft flatbreads or tortillas according to package instructions.
  6. 6. To assemble the Swedish Tacos, spoon the cooked meat filling onto the center of each flatbread or tortilla.
  7. 7. Top with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, grated cheese, sliced jalapeños (if using), sour cream, guacamole or sliced avocado, and salsa.
  8. 8. Garnish with chopped fresh cilantro.
  9. 9 Fold or roll up the flatbreads or tortillas to enclose the fillings and serve immediately.
